Alias: Lady Houdini

Character Name: Lorelei “Lori” Harris

Character Age: 22

Sex: Female

Super Power(s): Using light particles and manipulating of her own cells she can make herself, what she’s wearing, what she’s holding, etc. (as long as it is on her person) become invisible.
She is also able to levitate light weight objects and small, average weight children.

Weakness(es): [What hinders them?]
She has the strength of an athletic woman so with those stronger than her she is at a disadvantage when it comes to brute power.

Despite being invisible, she is still able to be harmed… if someone is able to find her.

She is only able to levitate light weight objects and people and manipulate them how she would want; however, anything heavier than 100 pounds she can just give a bit of a shove.

She is deathly afraid of very tight spaces (claustrophobic) and large quantities of blood just make her go dizzy.

Personality:
Lorelei Harris is a driven, hard-working woman whose affinities lie in helping run her uncle's hotel in Sovereign City. She is also a proud woman as her uncle, also her adopted father, has claimed her as a heiress of the hotel. Lorelei’s way of being a busy bee and always keeping herself busy makes many wonder as to when the woman ever gets sleep.
Lorelei keeps high standards for herself meaning she takes first impressions seriously when meeting a new person and always tries to look her best; unfortunately, she also keeps these standards for others too and judges before actually getting to know people. If someone is able to make a good impression on her she'll usually be a little more easy-going with them and blunt when she feels it is needed.
A believer in using time to its fullest, sometimes she can have a prejudice against the type of people who are too lazy to help better themselves when they are fully able to. To those who can’t exactly help themselves she tries to be giving to them and help them out.
Lastly, Lorelei has self-confidence; however, with the right words she can be flustered and embarrassed.
As Lady Houdini, Lorelei lets go of most of her modesty and lets herself get a little loose. Ironically enough, in contrast with her “invisibility”, she enjoys being showy and flirtatious with others when she’s seen. She can be confident and playful with her enemies at times this may confuse any onlookers as to whose side she’s on. But when truly focused on her goal, she can be ruthless and has a quiet and dangerous aura about her. At that point it is unclear what her next move will be, especially in a fight.




A Brief History: [A short piece that details your character's history and lifestyle. What do we need to know about this character?]
Lorelei Harris was the only child of a family from Memphis, Tennessee. Her father Albert was an Englishman who landed a job at the state university years before Lorelei was born. He ended up becoming infatuated with Lorelei’s mother, Nannie, after running into her at a Beale Street night club where he more than stuck out like a sore thumb. There was something about Nannie, maybe it was her bewitching beauty or perhaps it was her super power that she had inherited from her own lineage from Lousiana and her own mother, a voodoo queen. It took many years for them to actually strike up a romance, but when they did, there weren’t many people in support of it and Albert tried to turn negativity into a fire as he soon became an activist for African- American rights; however, didn't make much headway. He also ended up losing his job at the university.
Lorelei always looked up to her parents, and their hard work. Her mother as a super powered woman never did put on a mask but always told Lorelei of stories of a benevolent super hero named “Lady Voodoo”. It was a dangerous household to grow up in because of the threats her father had gotten because of his activist work, but Lorelei hardly ever noticed because her mother tried to always make the home feel safe, even when cleaning up bricks and glass away from the window.
Unfortunately, when Lorelei was 8 years old her mother died of pneumonia and a few years later, when she was 11, her father died of a heart attack.
Lorelei then moved to England with her uncle Bernard and his wife Camille, who took her in as one of their own. Lorelei found the accent strange as much as they found her own a little off. For the first couple of weeks, she didn’t talk much, but she eventually got used to it. She even picked up some english words despite keeping her Southern accent. It took some time for her cousins to warm up to her, but they eventually became very protective older brothers.
At age 16, her powers, which lay dormant since then, emerged. It had happened when she was angry at her ex-boyfriend who had broken up with her to go and marry some other woman. She had become so angry when thinking about it in her room, that she had wished hard enough that she'd disappear and... she did. It was quite the interesting night at the Harris household when Camille tried to check up on her after she heard crying in the room, but found no Lorelei. Lorelei was more than shaken up and so was the rest of her family, except Bernard. Bernard had been told about Nannie’s powers from his brother and had figured that one day, maybe that Lorelei’s would emerge as well. Unfortunately, without another super powered being to help her she had to try and train herself to control her power. It took her about 2 weeks to figure out how to turn herself visible again and soon after that her power of levitation emerged. So she trained as much as she could privately in a cottage that Bernard said she could live in on the Harris' small estate. Lorelei became closed off to her friends and lost some in the period she was trying to accept and control her powers. She eventually lied and told them she was just going through a hard time because of the break-up with her ex.
Toward her last year of high school, Bernard expressed interest in starting another hotel and picked Sovereign City as the spot to start it up. The hotel was more than successful and in her third year of university she expressed interest in moving to Sovereign City. By that time, she had heard of the super heroes and super villains and in the back of her mind she knew she wanted to join them.
After graduating from college, Lorelei settled in the west wing and top floor of the Harris hotel. Her brother Jeremy was put in charge of the hotel as Bernard had felt it was time to expand the business to another city. Since then, Lorelei’s lived comfortably in a bit of a routine. Though she does not hold the main responsibility of running the hotel, she does help out her foster brother, Jeremy, by making sure the hotel keeps it's clean and charming appearance. She often talks to the workers to make sure that they don't aren't missing anything that could make their jobs any easier and she also helps interview possible staff. At times, to keep herself busy she'll clean rooms, attend the front desk, and for her own guilty pleasure, she'll sing for the guests at the hotel's restaurant. Some nights, she lets her duties go and scout the streets trying to prevent crime as “Lady Houdini” a take on the super hero her mother told her about long ago, named “Lady Voodoo”.
